Challenge encourages less driving

Rogue Valley Transportation District presents a series of events intended to encourage people to drive less.

A kick-off reception starts at 5 p.m. today at Front Street Station, 200 Front St. It includes music, refreshments and a drawing class taught by local cartoonist Curt Evans.

Saturday is free fare day and all bus routes can be ridden with no fare

RVTD will host a bus commuter skills class from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Santo Community Center, 701 N. Columbus Ave. Space is limited. Call 541-774-2400 to register.

Bike aficionados can get in on the fun with Bike To Britt on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Attendees will bike from the 2687 W. Main St. Bi-Mart to Jacksonville. The first 16 people to RSVP will get free front and rear bike lights and a $5 coupon for Britt concessions.

Wednesday, Sept. 26, is Car Pool Rewards Day. Register and log trips at for a chance to win Dutch Bros. coffee, and a grand prize winner will receive a Kindle electronic book reader or a $100 gift certificate to Cycle Sport.
