California fires quelled

Fire officials say the largest of nearly 200 lighting-sparked fires in Northern California is fully contained.

The 250-acre fire east of Straylor Lake in the Lassen National Forest was fully contained by Wednesday evening.

An additional 187 fires are burning in other parts of Lassen County as well as Plumas, Siskiyou, Shasta and Modoc counties, said state fire spokesman Daniel Berlant.

Berlant says most of those fires are less than an acre and have been contained. They have consumed about 650 acres so far.

They have not threatened any structures.
