Budgeting, credit classes set

Classes designed to help people with tight budgets and credit issues as well as those considering home purchases are planned in September by Medford's Consumer Credit Counseling Service.

They include:

Budgeting Made Easy is offered at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8. The class covers creating a personal budget, setting financial goals, reducing spending and organizing your money.

Stretching Your Dollar is offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. The class covers saving money at the grocery store, driving your car for less, home weatherization and conservation, trimming your budget and controlling impulse spending.

Steps to Home Ownership is offered at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15. The class outlines 10 steps in buying a home including: reviewing finances and credit, shopping for a loan and working with a real estate agent.

Understanding Your Credit Report is offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. Students will learn to access and read free reports, correct errors and learn how to improve credit scores.

For those needing to rebuild their credit, a class is offered at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29. Even after a bankruptcy, consumers can save money by repairing their credit. That makes house, car and even monthly insurance rates cheaper.

All classes are at the Consumer Credit office in the Cedar Mall, 820 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 202, Medford. The registration fee is $10 per person for all classes.
