Brrr: Valley forecast calls for cold, falling snow levels

It's beginning to feel a lot like winter all over again, and no wonder: Snow levels in the Rogue Valley could drop to 2,000 feet during the day today, the National Weather Service is reporting.

In a statement this morning, forecasters in Medford said an "unusually cold" mass of air is expected to bring frost to Oregon's western valleys this weekend and a light accumulation of snow to mountains today and Saturday.

Snow levels are expected to drop to 3,000 to 4,000 feet late this afternoon and evening and could drop as low as 2,000 feet during the day today and into tonight. Snow could accumulate in the mountains and east of the Cascades, they said.

The highest threat of frost is for Sunday morning, they said.

Highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the 30s are in the Medford forecast through Sunday.
