Big screens on the big lawns tonight

Kick back and catch a free movie in Ashland or Central Point tonight.

The shows are at 9 p.m. at Garfield Park, 40 Garfield St. in Ashland, and at dusk (that might be a hair earlier than 9) at Pfaff Park, Sixth and Manzanita, Central Point.

The movies are part of both a summer series in both parks.

People in Ashland will watch the PG-rated “The Waterhorse, Legend of the Deep,” while Central Point will show the PG-rated “Secondhand Lions,” the story of a timid young man forced to spend the summer with his eccentric great uncles, played by Michael Caine and Robert Duvall.

Music by The Goldman Family is planned at 6 p.m. in Central Point, and golf games are planned in Ashand before the movie.
