Babies in the Library reading program sets June schedule

Babies in the Library programs will be offered at local branches starting in June. The programs are for babies up to 12 months old accompanied by a caring adult. Siblings are welcome, as are moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers.

Here's the schedule:

  • Ruch Branch Library — 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, June 4 through July 23, 7919 Highway 238. Call 899-7438.
  • Talent Branch Library — 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays in English, 4 to 5 p.m. in Spanish, June 4 through July 23, 101 Home St. Call 535-4163.
  • Eagle Point Branch Library — 10 to 11 a.m. Fridays, June 5 through July 24, 239 W. Main St. Call 826-3313.
  • Shady Cove Branch Library, noon to 1 p.m. Fridays, June 5 through July 24, 22477 Highway 62. Call 878-2270.
  • Medford Branch Library, 1 to 2 p.m. Mondays, June 15 through Aug. 3, 205 S. Central Ave. Call 774-8678.
  • Ashland Branch Library, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, June 16 through July 21, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Call 774-6995.


Each session of Babies in the Library will focus on a different early literacy skill, such as rhyming, repetition, reading aloud and oral language. The skills are taught within a 30-minute story time of songs, bounces and reading, followed by a half-hour of play and chat time. Duplicate copies of the books read during story time will be available.
