B-17 in Medford next month

Liberty Belle, a restored World War II Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, will take to the skies over Medford in April.

The plane, owned by Tulsa, Okla.-based Liberty Foundation, will make a short appearance on Monday, April 5, then return on April 11 to offer flights for foundation members and the public. Flights cost $395 for members and $430 for non-members.

The Liberty Belle is one of only 14 B-17's that still fly today. It was built toward the end of the war and never saw any combat. It is painted in the colors and nose art of the original "Liberty Belle" B-17 that flew countless missions with the 390th bomb group of the mighty 8th Airforce.
