Autopsy confirms identification of deceased Medford man

The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed that a body found outside of Rogue River Sunday is Truman Tollefson, 87, of Medford.

According to a release from Medford police, Dr. James Olson positively identified Tollefson during an autopsy conducted Tuesday, May 7. The medical examiner determined that the cause of death was likely exposure and hypothermia, with the manner of death being ruled as accidental, police said.

The body was found by a man cutting firewood at about 11 a.m. Sunday at mile marker 9 of Upper Grave Creek Road, Rogue River. Tollefson's body was found near a 1981 Buick Century, the car he had driven on errands the day he disappeared. Tollefson had been missing since December 2012.
