AG: Identity thieves using swine flu

Identity thieves are taking advantage of swine flu to scam consumers electronically, state officials are warning.

Scam e-mails may include links to bogus health Web sites that seek to obtain private financial information, said Oregon Attorney General John Kroger.

He said Oregonians should avoid opening e-mails, clicking on links to Web sites or opening attachments from people or organizations they don't know.

For more information, call the state's Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-877-877-9392 or visit www.doj.state.or.us.
