'Chicken Soup' author in Ashland

The co-author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" will be in Ashland today as part of a program on sustainability.

Jack Canfield is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. at the day-long "Ignite Your Brilliance" program at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St. Admission for the full day of events is $30 in advance and $40 at the door.

The event also includes a talk by Elliot Hiller, a motivational speaker who wrote the book "All You Need to Know About Everything" and a concert featuring singer/songwriter Faith Rivera, plus Laura Derocher and David Gabriel.

The program is hosted by Humanity Unites Brilliance, a for-profit humanitarian organization. Fifty percent of concert proceeds will benefit the Youth Action Committee to provide economic support and retraining of war-torn youths and former child soldiers of Liberia, organizers say.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.hubhub.org or at the Music Coop or Soundpeace in Ashland. Admission to the concert alone is $20 at the door.
